ABOUT THE FOOT SURGERY
Ms. Meena Matharu FCPods BSc MChS SRCh trained at The University of Westminster, and attained her Diploma and Degree in Podiatric Medicine in 1991. She is a registered member of both The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and The Health Care and Professionals Council.
In 2002, she was appointed a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery having successfully qualified as a Podiatric Surgeon. She has a wealth of clinical experience in Private Practice and the NHS. Previous appointments include consulting in Harley Street and also for Harrods.
Additionally, Ms. Matharu has represented her profession in Radio discussions, and has also contributed to the Health Section of 'The Financial Times'.
WHAT IS A CHIROPODIST, PODIATRIST AND PODIATRIC SURGEON?
Chiropodists and Podiatrists are specialists who have undertaken rigorous training in order to diagnose and treat foot conditions and disorders.
In order to be a Registered practiotioner, you must undertake a full time degree in Podiatry. In the UK the professional titles Chiropodist and Podiatrist are used synonymously. A small percentage of Podiatrists undertake further training to qualify as Podiatric Surgeons.
Podiatric surgeons are Podiatrists who have undertaken specialist training in foot and ankle surgery. The minimum training period for a Podiatric Surgeon in the UK is 10 years.
